Our mission is to provide technical services to lessen the burdens of all levels of government and to enhance economic development, building regulatory efficiency, and public safety in the State of Louisiana. In many ways, we are essentially "government on-call".
LAIBTS's Principal Long-Term Goals
- Develop an easily-duplicated regional building code review and inspection process that is economically feasible for all parishes and municipalities, and compliant with Act 12 of the Special Session of 2005.
- Assist the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council, Regional Planning Commissions, and parishes or cities in achieving the goals of Act 12 in a uniform, efficient, cost-effective manner.
- Establish Operational Building Plan Review and Inspection Departments.
- Provide the vehicle for sustainable growth of RPCs, parishes and/or cities, i.e., self-sustaining or profitable cost centers.
LAIBTS will:
- Establish new and augment existing Building Code Departments.
- Hire locally to the maximum extent possible.
- Provide certification training.
- Develop and provide field training.
- Provide IT and technical support.
- Manage building code departments for local jurisdictions until such time as the local jurisdictions can handle the work themselves.
- Establish ongoing training and support/augmentation.
